An unidentified monk from Thailand is trending on social media for his muscular body. The monk is raising awareness about the health of monks and is asking people to donate healthier alms.
He is urging the public to refrain from donating sugary and fatty alms to monks, reports Coconuts Bangkok.
Social media is, however, abuzz with conflicting views. While some say that he should spend more time introspecting than growing biceps, others defend him by believing that he must have spent years lifting weights and joined the monastery only recently.
According to a Facebook user page, Piak Rider, the monk was photographed back in 2011 before he gave up his monkhood to open his own restaurant. In a Facebook post – that now stnads deleted – Piak Rider said,
“That monk hunk is a weightlifter who was just ordained for a few days, as many Thai men do at some point in their lives.”
Well, whatever the truth may be, the pictures are proof enough that the monk takes his ‘health’ very seriously.
