Slegding, bouncers, dead stares – that’s what most India-Australia matches are all about. The first ODI was a quiet, rain-curtailed affair without any verbal spat. But, who can stop sledging from happening if there’s Virat Kohli on the field with Matthew Wade?
It all started in the 33rd over of the Indian innings when a delivery hit Wade on the hand and he writhed in pain. And as the ball slipped past him, Kohli and Kedar Jadhav found it an opportunity to take a single. Wade obviously didn’t like it.
So he snapped at the Indian captain, saying: “I might have a cry like you. I might go to the dressing rooms and have a good cry like you. Everyone has to feel sorry for you.” Wade’s words were caught in the stump mic. Marcus Stoinis also tried his best to irk Kohli but the Indian captain didn’t flinch.
It is reported that Kohli gave it back to Wade and his words were not caught on the mic.
